Do You Have Prediabetes? Take This Quick Quiz to Find Out

A 1-minute quiz could predict whether or not you're at risk for prediabetes. More than 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. have prediabetes, which - left untreated - can develop into full-blown diabetes within just a few years.

The prediabetes quiz is part of a new government-sponsored campaign designed to help spread awareness about diabetes and reiterate the fact that "no one is excused." The quick test includes seven simple questions about your age, family history and other factors that can influence risk.

According to the Centers for Disease control and Prevention, prediabetes can be reversed with dietary changes and weight loss.

Facts about Prediabetes

The American Diabetes Association reports that only 10 percent of people with prediabetes knows they have the condition.

Other statistics include:

  • There are usually no symptoms of prediabetes
  • Up to 30 percent of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years
  • Losing 5-7 percent of your body weight can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes
  • People who are overweight, over 40, have a family history or have high blood pressure are at risk for prediabetes
