Why the sudden spike in sugar levels? My husband has gone from 6 to 24 within a month or so

There could be several

There could be several reasons:

An unknown infection can cause blood sugar spikes.

Is he snacking on a new or different food item?

Is he taking a new medication for pain, colds, cough, etc? Some pain meds have added sugar to them, or can cause spikes for unknown reasons.

Is he under stress? Stress can cause spikes.

Basically..you want to look at what's different with him from prior to the spike to now. Food, snacks, drinks, meds, stress, anything that is different now with him.

If this doesn't help you, make sure and see a doctor, because it could be something more serious such as an infection or worse. His body is trying to tell you something that maybe only a doctor will be able to figure out with testing once you have made sure it is none of the things I mentioned before that you can check yourself. Good luck!
