Hi Clive, The general
Hi Clive,
The general cause of diabetes is a question that I cannot give you a specific answer too. What I can and will do is tell you what doctors, scientists and researchers have discovered over the past several decades.
Diabetes can be the result of genetics, meaning that it is a hereditary disease that is passed down to future generations. It is important to know that NOT everyone who has a parent or even a grandparent with diabetes will automatically also become diabetic. It does mean that they have a much higher risk than someone who does not have diabetes in their immediate family. If you have not been diagnosed there are quick and simple tests (blood test in most cases) that can tell you if you are pre-diabetic if you are then you can make lifestyle changes (diet and exercise) to hopefully fend off the diabetes.
Obesity is seriously being considered as a cause of diabetes now. As well as insulin hormone imbalances. There are way too many possibilities to list them all.
The best thing anyone can do is be tested for pre-diabetes and make the necessary lifestyle changes. Even if you are not pre-diabetic, it is wise to remain healthy by following the daily food pyramid guide, get plenty of exercise and find a healthy way to reduce the stress in your life.
