The proper way to check your blood sugar is after fasting for at least 8 hours. If your blood sugar is 146 after a night of sleep, that could indicate diabetes. The best thing to do is to go to your doctor and let them check your blood sugar as well as some other critical blood factors to see if you are diabetic.
If you checked your blood sugar within a couple of hours of eating a meal, that could be a normal reading.
Again, the best and safest route is to let your doctor do some tests to see if you are diabetic.
