Pre diabetes is also known as metabolic syndrome. This condition involves a few factors including high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and in most cases obesity. A person with pre diabetes is twice as likely to develop a heart condition than a person who is not pre diabetic.

Obviously, the main concern is preventing the onset of type 2 diabetes. However, preventing heart disease and stroke are also very important in a pre diabetic.

Preventive Measures

Preventive measures are always the first place to start. If you have metabolic syndrome or pre diabetes, you should start eliminating the metabolic syndrome. If you have high blood pressure start by getting it under control and back down to within normal limits. The same for the high cholesterol. If you are over weight or obese begin eating healthier and start exercising even if you start with a leisure walk around the block.

Not only will preventive measures improve your metabolic syndrome/pre diabetes it can stop the onset of diabetes and allow you to live a healthier diabetic free life.
