Early Detection may Prevent Type 2 Diabetes

Early detection of metabolic syndrome more commonly known as prediabetes is easy to test for and if individuals who are found to have this condition followed a few general guidelines there is a very good possibility that they could prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

One Mans Story

At the age of 61, Joe Gosselin was told he was overweight and prediabetes. While Mr. Gosselin refused to exercise much to his doctor’s dismay, he did lose 40 pounds and changed his eating habits. For Mr. Gosselin these actions were enough to keep diabetes at bay for the past five years.

Is It Time for Everyone to be Tested

If you read or watch any health related news then you probably know that by the year 2020 more than half of the American population will have type 2 diabetes. The question that is being asked is should everyone be tested for prediabetes? It is a simple blood test that could save your life. Yes, lifestyle changes would need to be made if your test came back positive for prediabetes and wouldn’t it be worth it to do some exercise and change your diet some to prevent diabetes? Of course, it would!

Conclusion

Doctors feel strongly that the general public and specifically those who have a predisposition to diabetes whether it be hereditary or obesity should be tested.
