Call to Action

A Call to Action today entitled Shaping our future: a call to action to tackle the diabetes epidemic and reduce its economic impact. "The Call to Action seeks to address diabetes prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management, as well as to identify the practices and resources required to meet the needs of people with, and at risk for, diabetes," said Steve Edelman, M.D., a practicing endocrinologist and Founder and Director of Taking Control of Your Diabetes, one of the members of the Task Force.

Three Goals

The Call to Action campaign has three goals to advance diabetes preventive measures and treatments to help improve the quality of life for diabetics nation wide.

Goal # 1

Goal number one is to enable and empower people with diabetes and those at risk for diabetes and their family, friends and their community to help prevent and manage diabetes within their community to help achieve better health and quality of life for the diabetics in the community.

Goal # 2

“Support and promote tools and resources for healthcare professionals to prevent, detect earlier and more effectively treat diabetes.” This can be done improving the screening tests for diabetes resulting in earlier diagnose and preventive treatment instead of diabetes treatment.

Goal # 3

“Support effective implementation, education and awareness of healthcare reform provisions focusing on diabetes care and prevention.” Stand by your community members who suffer from diabetes or those who are at a high risk for developing diabetes. Make your voice be heard!
