As Obesity Rises in Children so Does Type 2 Diabetes

The rate of obese children is rising at a rapid rate and so is type 2 diabetes in children. Scientists originally thought that type 2 diabetes was an adult only type of diabetes newly diagnosed children prove that long thought theory wrong.

How is Type 2 Diabetes Possible in Children

The more obese a child becomes the greater risk they have of developing type 2 diabetes just like an adult. Children with type 1 diabetes are usually but not always a genetically engineered disease. Meaning that the child’s genetic make up is prone to type 1 diabetes. Scientist is not certain how one child can be genetically prone to type 1 diabetes and another is not. Nor do scientists know why one obese child will develop type 2 diabetes and another obese child does not.

How to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes in Children

The best defense against type 2 diabetes in child is a well-balanced meal, exercise, snacks that healthy and good for the body and if you suspect your child may have some symptoms of diabetes have them tested as soon as possible.
