Metabolic syndrome is also known as pre diabetes recent studies indicated that approximately thirty-five percent of adults living in the United States suffer from metabolic syndrome most of which go undiagnosed until type 2 diabetes develops.

Pycnogenol

Pycnogenol is an antioxidant plant extract from the bark of the French maritime pine tree, in studies this antioxidant has proven to lower blood sugar levels, reduce high blood pressure, lower the body mass index of people who have lost weight and pycnogenol has also proven to increase kidney health.

Diabetes & Kidney Damage

Kidney damage is a common problem for people with metabolic syndrome (pre diabetes) and diabetes due to the large number of cardiovascular risk factors involved. The study results have shown that pycnogenol has the ability to restore kidney function in people who have metabolic syndrome and diabetes.

Pycnogenol Study

“The controlled study carried out at the Nephrology Unit at the L'Aquila Hospital in Italy investigated 58 hypertensive patients who presented all of the criteria for diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, as defined by the World Health Organization: hypertension, high blood lipids, high fasting blood glucose and obesity. Furthermore, all patients showed early signs of kidney problems as judged by elevated amounts of proteins (albumin) present in their urine.”

Study Conclusion

Over a six-month period, the participants who were taking the pycnogenol had lower blood sugar levels and a significant weight loss. These results made the researchers optimistic that pycnogenol can help people with pre diabetes and possibly even prevent type 2 diabetes from developing.
