Magnetically Controlled Pill may Help the Body's Ability to Absorb Type 2 Diabetes Medications
Often time’s oral medications are not absorbed into the blood stream correctly or quickly. There are a few reasons why this may happen specifically the pill does not absorb in the correct place in the gastrointestinal tract where it can then be absorbed into the blood stream. The magnetically controlled pill will help the oral medication be absorbed in the proper place so it can reach the blood stream and do its job.
Magnetic Pill System
The magnetic pill system was developed by Brown University. The magnetic pill system is a “simple” operation that places a device in the intestines where a pill would need to be so it could be absorbed and enter the blood stream. Not all pills are absorbed in the same area of the intestines. This will not only be beneficial to people with type 2 diabetes but also cancer patients.
Human clinical trials have not began yet however, lab trials using rats has proven to be a positive step forward in being able to make sure oral medications are being absorbed which in return could help people with uncontrolled diabetes gain better control over their condition.
